How to prepare for the TISSNET and TISSMAT?

What's up, guys? I hope all is well. My name is MaheYsh, and I have attended interviews (read GD-PI-WAT process) of IIMs and other top B-Schools in the country. I also managed to clear the TISSNET exam and surpass the cut-off for the HRM & LR program. Therefore I would like to share my two cents with all the bewildered aspirants, which will surely help them decide a fixed direction for their preparation voyage. So, let's get started and make sure to read the entire post :D

If you are preparing for non-CAT exams like SNAP, NMAT, or CET, then you get prepared for TISSNET as well, but the only exception is the GK part. While I was preparing for the CAT and other management entrances, I had a habit of reading GK every day. I used to take out some time and dedicate 1-2 hours daily for the same. After the SNAP exam, I started reading GK rigorously, and also revised everything I had read earlier. You can follow the same strategy. When it comes to the study material for GK, there are some paid sources like GKmojo, Career Anna, etc. that send you plenty of exam-specific material which includes static GK, current affairs, and other exam specific notes. You can choose to buy them in groups and share different materials with each other. But remember, no person or institute can prognosticate the future. Hence, you should not solely depend upon their material.

Below is the list of some other resources:

Study IQ Education YouTube channel

Magazine analysis on Study IQ channel (Yojana Magazine analysis)

GKToday App/Knappily App

Bankers Adda capsules

IAS current affairs websites/Affairscloud website

The Hindu/Economic Times/Editorial Magazines

Chronicle and Pratiyogita Darpan Magazine

Manorama Yearbook and India Yearbook for static GK (Try to get the free ebook available on the internet)

I don't want you all to be overloaded with a plethora of materials or notes. I'm just giving you options. You should have that ability to pick up the best based on your own analysis of the previous papers and chose what you are comfortable with.

Remember, TISSNET does not penalize you for an incorrect answer, therefore leaving a question unattempted does not make sense. It's a game of speed and accuracy. In those 100 precious minutes of your test, allocate 15-20 mins to the GK section, and the remaining 80 mins for the Maths and English section. With this strategy and approach, you will surely ace the exam.

Tip 1: Don't spend too much of money on buying materials. Purchase in groups and share it.

Tip 2: Try to get free material as much as possible, and also share it with others.

Tip 3: 5-10 mocks are enough; given that you are also preparing for other MBA entrances. If not, then go for 15-20 mocks.

When it comes to the TISSMAT exam, which is for those opting for the HR and ODCL program, you don’t have to prepare anything extra. If you are preparing for the TISSNET, you get prepared for the TISSMAT as well. It’s just an additional test after the TISSNET but has negative marking.

Note: For exam pattern, duration, and marking scheme, please visit the college's website, because these things are subject to change. (It's highly likely it won't.)
