How to prepare for the Maths and English section of TISSNET?

Hey all! What's up? In this post, I'm gonna write about the preparation tips and strategies to score magnificent marks in the English and Maths section of the TISSNET paper. First of all, lemme slack off some pressure by affirming that the TISSNET's Maths and English section is the easiest when we juxtapose it with other MBA entrances. The level of difficulty of these two sections can range from easy to moderate. You can refer NCERT books for English and Maths from class 6th to class 10th. Start your preparation as early as possible, 2-3 hours each day, and you will sail through. Let's continue with dissecting these two sections, and make sure to read the entire article out-and-out.

For the English section, I swear, My right hand to the GOD, the best way to prepare is to read. Read a lot, and read regularly and religiously. Focus on reading novels and editorials of your choice, and it's alright even if you read without the intention of preparing for any exam. Whilst reading, focus on understanding what the author is trying to convey, keeping your personal biases aside. Never forget that reading is the backbone of your preparation.

(A bonus note: TISSMAT's English section will assess you on your comprehension skills, and reading editorials every day will surely help.)

After you make it a habit of reading every day, simultaneously focus on some other segments in the section like Passage Solving, Verbal Reasoning, Critical Reasoning, Vocabulary, and Grammar.

Maths section includes Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning as well. I know for a fact that Mathematics is like a thorn in the flesh for many of us, but to make it simple, you can start with easy topics like Percentages, Averages, Ratio and Proportions, Partnership, Mixtures and Allegations, Profit and Loss, Time Speed Distance, Time and Work, Pipes and Cisterns, and Simple and Compound Interest. Arithmetic is the easiest and scoring part in the Math section of any entrance exam. There are some other segments in the Math section comprising Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, Number Series, Data Interpretation, and Logical Reasoning. All you need to do is understand the basic concepts of all the aforementioned topics. For understanding and practicing the concepts, you can refer to some YouTube channels like Study Smart and Bankers Point. Visit these two channels, look for playlists relevant to your syllabus, and start solving. Don't just watch those videos, but practice as well whilst watching. For practicing DI and LR you can refer Arun Sharma's books (if you need the PDFs feel free to contact me on Instagram), but remember, do only easy to moderate level questions from it. Don't focus on difficult questions at all. No need to go in-depth.

Now, let's understand the chronology. The first step is to learn the concepts relevant to the syllabus. The second step is to practice numerous problems and revise whatever you have already practiced hitherto. The third step involves upgrading to the next level, which is called the GAME of MOCKS. Mocks will teach you time management and help you improve your speed and accuracy. It will also introduce you to some new types of questions. If you are taking other MBA entrances along with TISSNET, then 5-10 mocks are sufficient, but if you are focusing only on TISSNET, then 15-20 mocks should be taken. You can subscribe to IMS or CL or TIME for the mock series.

After taking a sufficient number of mocks followed by its detailed analysis, you are good to go...
